This is the second one I've bought, the first one being almost a year old and still going strong. Originally bought it for an outdoor cat but they refused the cat house with it inside so we set it on a perch and the inside cats will take turns laying on it and enjoying the warmth.I have been really pleased with the durability and ease of cleaning the cover as one of our cats is "prone to mark" his favorite things. We can take the cover off and wash it easily. Also the amount of heat is just enough. I don't worry much about what it is resting on getting too hot and when no one is using it it is not heating. A great feature. Why a second one? The outdoor cat came in during a big storm and not the pad is her favorite spot and won't share so we had to get it to keep the peace.I have a cat house outside. This bed is just like having a heating pad. Flexible, easy to clean. We will use it for a feral cat house outside but my indoor kitties have already claimed it right out of the box!!Works good so far.Works great and the delivery and packaging was excellent. Got it in 2 days, WOW!!!!The winters here in Maryland aren’t as bad as they are in other places, but it does frequently get down into the teens around here. I wanted to provide some relief to our 8 feral cats/kittens this year, and this heated pad seems to really do the trick.I bought this pad to put in a 15”x25” plastic storage bin located on our deck, situated partially under the picnic table and protected on the other side somewhat by the house. I put a honeycomb rubber mat between the heating pad and the wooden deck to keep the pad out of the water and provide a little insulation. The electric outlet is only a couple of feet away, so this location seemed pretty much perfect. This pad was almost as large as the box, and I couldn’t find one that fit better. The cats and kittens initially looked into the box, then they took a few steps into it with half the body still hanging out. It only took a day or so before they were going in and lying on the pad. It wasn’t uncommon for three or four of them to squeeze into the box, especially at night. The pad worked great, aided, of course, by the body heat of their brothers and sisters. Interestingly, Mom usually stayed alongside the box and wouldn’t go in. Maybe to protect her kittens? I think so.I ended up buying a much larger 17”x41” storage container (90 gallons, I think). This box is large enough for all 8 of them, including Mom who now goes in the box too. The heating pad is now in the far end of the box with roughly 1/3 of the box floor unheated. I’m planning to buy a larger pad if I can find one.I periodically reach in to feel the heating pad cover to make sure it’s not getting wet. I have washed and dried the cover twice now since my purchase. The cover appears to be holding up well. No signs of cat chewing. Similarly, nobody seems to be interested in chewing on the “armored” power cord either.Although the electronic control is supposed to only energize the pad when there is some specific amount of weight on it, the pad appears to be warm all of the time. It’s only 40 watts (I think), so I’m not concerned, but the control may not be working exactly as designed. That might be my only criticism. Other than that, this is a great kitten heating pad.As describeThe Problem: A semi barn cat and semi rescue - long story, but she knows a sucker when she sees one - who absolutely hates, Hates, HATES being inside the house, and even with the doors wide open. (5+ hours of absolutely nonstop meowing and yowling whilst pacing from room to room trying to get out will wear anybody down.) Add sub-zero winter overnight temperatures even in the garage - her "barn" - to the equation and you look for something so that at least she won't freeze to death. (An electric blanket doesn't cut it. Plus you want to keep her off the cars.)The Solution: This thing. Basic, basic, basic and to the point. Always on with low heat and *no* timer to fuss with or fail on you. Durable and thick waterproof inner shell/air bladder with a soft removable outer cover. Generous length power cord is extra heavy duty with a wire spiral to protect it. Comes very nicely packaged. (And I mean really!) Followed the excellent setup instructions - the manufacturer spends half the time profusely thanking you for buying it - placed it on an elevated workbench where she could get to it and plugged it in.And then you wait, hoping that it works, and that she'll use it, and that you haven't thrown your money away, and....The Result: Success! Once she discovered it - and after the expected WTF initial reluctance and suspicion as per normal with a cat confronted with anything new - it has become her absolutely favoured spot. Doesn't seem warm if you just merely put your hand on it, but be assured that the heat *does* indeed build up and your cat (or what have you) will love its toasty comfort.Money well spent. Works right. Made right. Priced right. Easy, easy five stars. Buy it with confidence.A few such devices around and took a chance on this one, I took off the fluffy outer cover and the inner is a ‘waterproof’ pad, it has an inflation valve like a beach toy and that kind of plastic;rubber material. The cable entry is clearly the most vulnerable part - if using indoors I’m not sure how many uses it would handle before becoming twisted and breaking - given 240v I’d keep a close eye on that. We are using this in a static set up, placed under the ‘omlet’ hutch of our rabbits. We leave it on 24/7 but one could set up a timer - at 30w it isn’t too expensive to leave on for a few months.Hand placed on the plastic base of the hutch can feel there is some warmth there and we have seen our rabbits find and sit there so mission accomplished.Ideal would probably be more power and then use of a timer.Never sure if some of these overseas electrics meet UK standards. The plug is UK and has fuse ( I put a lower amp fuse in) as I don’t think there is an earth down to the device itself.I run a couple of Airbnbs and I hate ironing, so all my bedding gets folded and stacked on the warming pad. It’s the perfect temperature for airing and pressing overnight. After noticing it had deleted I took it out of its cover and noticed the dog bit into it. Not good for dogs may cats and other animals that do not like to chew.It arrived quick , but I’m a bit disapointed as you can only feel heat in one half of pad the other half is only slight , I feel it’s not warm enough I’m thinking of returning the item as I’m not sure if it’s faulty and should be warmerMy queen got too hot and left the kittens often and wanted to move them so I only used at night when heating was off. As for older animals I haven’t tried so can’t comment
