Arrived a little banged up, some of the trim on the roof was broken off.Assembled easily in about 1 hour. I glued and screwed the broken piecesfrom the roof back on. The roof is very heavy duty with the asphalt lining. The rest of the house is well built an should last a while if kept up.It has its flaws (a lot of it) because of it, I cannot mark it more than 3 stars.1) cedar planks are very thin and dried. It is quite fragile for wood product. Its appearance in red stain makes it look durable.2) only the roof/top cover piece is truly the most durable part.3) fit of the inside bottom boards/panels do not fit well inside. The bottomFloor panels are the most troublesome pieces of them all as far as the lack of quality in both material being too thin and precut assembled configuration failing to mate on the floor. My 90 lbs dog went in once and two of the panels got lifted out of its positions. My dog will not go in again because the panel got lifted and struck his body. I had to reinforce the panels to stay steady by adding a long brace piece underneath the floor panels at both front and rear so panels can be reinforced in position by adding more drilled holes and galvanized flathead screws.Because of the review that I read, I went with this dog house but honestly it is NOT worth the price that they are charging. Sorry. I cannot recommend this to anyone. I should not have to do all those extra work to it to make it right. But my dog still would not go in there be cause of the bad first encounter. So it is useless.I know I am stuck with it. I probably cannot even return it because I did do those extra steps to make it function like it is meant to do coming straight out the box.Easy to put together. It's is wood and its sturdy but it's not solid lumber. Will hold up though I can tell. Don't screw the lifters in completely tight until the end. Had to adjust those last so the top would close all the way. Overall it's perfect and would recommendIt’s super cute, I have a pug but he doesn’t even use it? anyways I really like it if you want to buy it just do it :)This is an update. My original review is below. Just shy of two years old the roof is coming apart. Given the money spent on this plus the time and effort putting it together I'd hoped it would last a long time. The other reviews are pretty accurate. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could, but I can't quite give 5.First the negative. The wood is thinnish, but not as thin as I feared. There was a spot where the wood had splintered a tiny bit, but I pressed it back into place The paint is very thin and I plan to put a coat of polyeurathane on to extend the life of the doghouse. Since the walls are thinnish with a tiny gap between the boards in one spot and a slatted floor, I wouldn't use this to shelter a dog from the cold. But I'm very happy with this dog house for the price! I got the medium which is perfect for my 23 pound, energetic mini-schnoodle. I assembled it myself with the screw driver and instruction card that were in the box in about an hour and 15 minutes. I did have to apply a little pressure to get some of the screws in. I found the instructions easy to follow. You might want to position the dog house before you put the roof on because it's awkward to move without help once that's done. The house seems quite sturdy to me! There are two feet in the middle of the medium for extra support. I hung out in there with my dog for a while to help give him positive associations with the house and although with the roof down I had to bend uncomfortably (my dog could sit up fine), with it up there was plenty of space for us both. Again, this was the medium size. The roof doesn't have a lip on the back which seems a smart design so water can run off. It's a dark asphalt which I'm sure it great in the winter but will make the house hotter in the sun. My dog likes to jump up there, so I put a bench behind it for him to get up and down with less joint strain. I haven't put the plastic over the door yet since I want to encourage the dog to get to know his house, but it seems to be heavyweight and good for the job of keeping water out. Although this house could not be described as water tight, I do think it will be good short term shelter when my dog gets caught out in a rain. The doo-hickies that hold the roof up are great! No holding it open with my head to change mats and no fear if it banging down. It's great, too, that the house sits off the ground out of any water.Bottom line is that I like the house and my dog seems to like the house. It's not as heavy duty as what my grandfather made our German Shepherd in the 1970s, but it's a heck of a lot better than anything I could have done and I think the quality is better than fair for the money. It's attractive and sturdy and functional and I think it will last IF I put that coat of sealant on it. I considered several similar dog houses and am glad I chose this one.We use this to house a couple ducks. Works great and allows easy access to the eggs. Purchased twice. The first one lasted about 4 years outdoors before the roof fell apart. Water got under the roofing material at the edges and trashed it. Caulked the roof this time and I expect we'll get a for 5-6 years out of it this time.First Class!!! Arrived next day, good quality and easy to build. Although it is a dog kennel I've used it for my cats litter tray!!! My husband insulated it and it is perfect and the cats love it. Highly recommended.Wicked dog kennel love it my animals won't stop going in and out of it so glad I brought this off u thanks and I will recommend u thanks emmaFantastic quality, very easy to build and has been proved as having excellent weatherproof qualitieskennel is good, i did paint it black, and made a few adjustments, but does the job.I ordered two of these, one for my 90 pound newfoundlander/black labrador cross and the other for my 185 pound rottweiler. I wasn't sure how sturdy they would be but I was pleasantly surprised. They were easy to assemble and the dogs love them. In fact both dogs went into the same house at the same time and it still supported them.
